About
Part of the Performances Up Close series, audience is seated onstage alongside the musicians in an hour-long program.
Three-time Grammy nominee Kayhan Kalhor, the world’s premier Grammy-nominated pipa virtuoso Wu Man, and Guggenheim Fellow and Grammy Award-winning tabla player Sandeep Das are established soloists in their individual traditions. These artists, who forged a relationship through their work as part of the Silk Road Ensemble, will join forces to create a new trio that highlights the ancient traditions of Persia, China and India in a 21st century program.
This event is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, and co-sponsored by the Sharmin and Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Iran and Persian Gulf Studies at Princeton University.
DON’T MISS IT: This program is an extension of a Healing with Music conversation permeated by live performance on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 7:30PM in which the trio’s kamancheh player, Kayhan Kalhor, will discuss his relationship to music in the aftermath of the Iranian Revolution (info & tickets). Princeton University Concerts highly recommend attending both events for the most comprehensive encounter with this extraordinary artist.
